A fruit tree is
never just a tree.
In Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, it's a livelihood taking root. It's a family's next meal. It's proof that a displaced community does not mean a community without a future.
We're not observers of this problem.
We live inside it.
TAO Africa believes lasting change comes when communities lead their own development, not when it is handed to them. In Bidibidi, refugees and host communities are not waiting for solutions. They are building them, one tree at a time.
Here is how it works. Your gift covers a grafted fruit seedling, planting, and two years of care by the family who owns it. That family harvests the fruit, sells the surplus, and keeps the income. The soil comes back to life. The community grows stronger from the ground up. Nothing is handed down. Everything is built.
Deforestation and displacement are often the same map. Bidibidi is where TAO Africa chooses to redraw it.
One fruit tree, five outcomes.
A fruit tree, planted
Procured and planted directly in Bidibidi, cared for through establishment.
Income for a family
Fruit and produce create a direct, ongoing livelihood for the household that tends it.
Soil brought back to life
Root systems rebuild degraded land, improving water retention for the wider settlement.
A community-led decision
Refugee and host families choose how the trees serve their own future, not ours.
Entrepreneurship, empowered
Tree income helps seed TAO Africa's own training for refugee youth and small business owners building livelihoods in Bidibidi.

Where your tree goes
Every tree funded through this campaign is planted in and around Bidibidi Refugee Settlement, Yumbe District, in Uganda's West Nile region, home to one of the largest refugee-hosting communities on the continent. TAO Africa is refugee-led and based here, working alongside the same families this campaign supports.
On the ground
No stock photography, this is TAO Africa's own team at work in Bidibidi.
Plant a tree. Empower a family. Help Bidibidi grow.
$25 is a vote of confidence in what refugees and their host communities can build when given the tools, not the terms, of their own future.
